Bio
Adam Mann was born and raised in Weymouth, Massachusetts, in a home surrounded by music of all types thanks to his audiophile and amateur musician father. Adam began playing Percussion in Concert Band in middle school and by the age of 14 had convinced his father to buy him his first drum set, a "frankenstein" set comprised of three different brands of shells and just as many different brands of hardware and old cymbals. Regardless, this simple purchase inspired Adam to begin a lifelong quest for musical excellence and freedom.
Adam played in variety of local bands throughout high school, all the while working to pay for lessons at the infamous DiCenso's Drum Shop in Quincy, Massachusetts, where he studied with first Scott Purslow and later Dick DiCenso. Adam went on to attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he studied Performance for Jazz Drum Set under the tutelage of the great Bob Gullotti.
While attending college, Adam co-founded the art/jazz/rock/fusion band Rudy Brown with fellow musicians/students Daniel Thomas, Dave Gagnon, Eve Boltax, and Daniel Kent, a now sporadic but ongoing and life-long project aimed at pushing the musical envelope.
Adam moved to the Tampa Bay Area in 2007 to begin honing his chops in the "real" world and immediately began finding work in the bustling world of Top 40, Tribute, Cover, and Blues bands in the tourism-fed bay. Always seeking original avenues to express his creativity, Adam teamed up with Tampa native songwriter/guitarist Joel Tatangelo in the Standback Band, performing and recording an eclectic mix of original Southern Rock, Blues, and Soul-Jazz .
This was Adam's first break in the bay area, and while performing with the Standback Band opened for a variety of national acts, including The Outlaws, Porter-Battiste-Stoltz(PBS), and Coco Montoya.
In 2010 Adam began playing in songwriter/guitar phenom Bobby Lee Rodgers' Trio( formerly of The Codetalkers) and got his first taste of road-life, traveling countless miles to gigs from Key West to Ohio and everywhere in between. During this period Adam shared bills with even more national acts (Guns 'n Roses, Queensryche, Galactic, Trombone Shorty, Dumpstaphunk, 7 Walkers, The Lee Boys, Shooter Jennings, ...etc)and played at major festivals in the Southeast like Wanee ( Allman Bros, Widespread Panic) and the Southern Monster Smash (Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Mofro).
In 2012 Adam played a short stint with Rockabilly/Swing band The Cadillac Bombers before moving on to join Charlie Dandelion, a diverse musical force and local favorite at Florida music festivals Orange Blossom Jamboree and Hometeam Rally,. Charlie Dandelion played its last live gig NYE 2013/14 but survives as a rhythm-section-for-hire for Tampa Bay singer-songwriters, recently recordiing a professional video demo with Reina Collins and collaborating withTampa singer/songwriter Dylan Cowles on his latest full-length album, Sum of All, to be released in October 2014.
Mid 2013, Adam Mann and Charlie Dandelion bassist Theodore Jenkins also joined The Last Radio, a full-time,, professional Top 40 cover band serving the Greater Tampa Bay communities. The Last Radio came to an abrupt end in the spring of 2014, freeing Adam up to pursue a variety of local and talented original projects, once again teaming up for live shows with Joel Tanatangelo, Reina Collins, and Dylan Cowles, respectively.
Always seeking new opportunities, in August 2014 Adam auditioned for and was hired by independent national touring and recording artist Simplified, out of Charlotte, NC., and is excited to be on the road again sharing stages with the likes of Fishbone, Slightly Stoopid, and Blues Traveler. In 2015 Adam will be performing with Simplified on notable festival-cruises Rockboat and Train's Sail Across the Sun, as well as many other fun and exciting venues and festivals across the country and beyond!
